Beer of the week.....

I am a huge lover of IPA and it seems to be the season for new ones. Widmer came out with a new one called Broked Halo IPa which has very little flavor, which tome is expected for a Widmer brew. Descutes also came out with a new one called Inversion IPA , not bad and a hell of a lot better then Cinder Cone. I always seem to revert back to the ones that i have always enjoyed like Lagunitas, Terminal Gravity and my favorite local Old Markets British Bombay IPA. If many of you have not headed out to the west side to check out their brews i do suggest doing it. The service is sometimes lacking and the food is forgettable but the brews never disapoint. Pints are 3.60 ALL the time and guest taps are 4.50. They do have drink special Sundays, Monday's, and Tuesday: unfortunately not on beer. Tom the brewer always try to have three seasonals and is alwasy experiment with different recipies of the standards. I think I might be a little biased whenit comes to the Old Market becaue i have been a regular for so long but i definetly think it is worth trying out.

Tucks!!!

What a joy to find such a great place right in your own neighborhood. Last weekend i had the joy in partaking in the tasting rooms at the Old Cider Mills Tucks Brewery. It was absolutely delightlful. I got there around three in the afternoon after an extreemly long work week, so i was in the mood to indulge in some good beers, and i wasn't disappointed. You go inside and it is instantly inviting with a bunch of dudes sitting around talking beer and having a good time. I have had there beers before but was always sort of dissappointed having had tried them inside a smoke infested bar. The beers were tasty and fresh my favorit being the NIT Wit Wheat. It was so good i drank more of that then of there Imperial Ipa o Holy Hop which was also tasty but the Nit Wit had a flavor that will be unforgetable. All of you that read my blog will have to try it out sometime you won't be dissapointed.....

Spring Beer and Wine fest

So this was the weekend of the largest spring beer and wine fest in America and my first time going. It was located at the convention center and sort of felt like i was drinking in a costco but had many great brews to try. Pete and i got there around three in the afternoon after a good breakfast and lots of rest. The admission was five dollars which got you indside then you had to spend more money on tokens and a glass. They had the trditional plastic beer mug for three dollars and special glasses for 6. They did offer a package deal that came with the three dollar mug 13 tokens and admission.

When we got inside we decided to go about trying all the beers in a fasion where we could hit them all and remember where we had gone. IT worked well for the first couple hours but after awhile we just sort of hung out in one spot. Even thoughthat was in front of one of Petes favorite breweries.

We were able to try at least one style of brew from each brewery represented by the time we left. Which was quite the undertaking and left us feeling pretty good. One of my favorites was the Walking Man Imperial IPA. Unfortunately by the time we got there we were only able to have one glass beofre they ran out. Oh well there is always next year. Hope that some of you made it i hope to hear some of your stories.

Roots and Clinton Street Brewing.......

So last night i went to Roots Brewing and to the Clinton Street Brewing. My experience at both was not what i expected. At Roots Brewing i was plesently surprised by the size of the brewery and the selections. They also appear to have a tasty menu that i was unable to try but will definetly be back for more. Tuesdays at Roots brings the night of the 2.50 imperial pint on house brews which is a excellent deal for there innovative concoctions. I tried four of there 6 house brews and they were all delicious.

Pond Turtle Pale Ale 5.3%
Nice example of an English style Pale, light amber in color, light in boidy & makes the perfect session ale.

Burghead Heather Ale 5.4%
Based on a 300 year old recipie, this awardwinning ale may be the most interesting ale you've ever had! Made with no hops but with heather tips. Really one of the best new beers i have had, a great flavor witha smooth after taste.

Woody IPA 6.0%
Not your classis NW IPA, it's Better! Dry Hopped with an abundance of whole magnum hops to get your attention-and hold it. I love IPA so this one was expecially good

Island Red 5.6
We call this a RED stout. Very full bodied complex Ale brewed with a good amount of oats which help give this red a very rich & creamy head.

They have a few other one and always come out with some sesonals that are also very tasty. Be sure to try it out on a tuesday when they have 2.50 imperial pints.

Some of my favorite beers.......

A list of some my current favorite beers:

Tucks Brewery O holy Hop, a great imperial IPA 8.6% it will hit you hard
Walking Man Imperial IPA....I said i loved IPA's
New Old Lompoc Fools Golden Ale
Mac and Jack African Amber.....So good with every keg being different.

Well i will add more to the list but i have to get out there and try me some more beer!!!

Thoughts on beer.....

So i went to the New Old lompoc last night for miser mondays and enjoyed there new menu
and of course the great IPA's. Tonight i am heading to Roots for the first time and to Clinton
Street Brewing which is allegedly the smallest fully operational brewery in oregon or maybe it
was the US. Anyways i am sure they are going to have some great beer.

Last weekend i got to enjoy a variety of good beers at both Bills Brews in Cannon Beach,
which has my favorite berry flavored beer to date, and Astoria Brewing company which had a
variety of beer that were tasty and a great view of the Colombia. Unfortunately they were out
of there imperial IPA so that just means that i have to go back. This week might be a record
for diiferent Brewerys without being in one place for me.

I look forward to the summer when the honey and I are going to trek up Mt Hood and go to
different breweries up through gresham troutdale parkdale and finally ending up back at the
Edgefield. Can't wait for the weather to improve. What have y'all been up to.

My ultimate goal is to say that i have been to all the breweries in Oregon. We are so lucky to
live in an area of such great brews. Now get out there and enjoy them!!!

Seattle revisited........

So the boy and I are once again heading north to support our "local" NFL team.....yes the seahawks. I am pretty excited not only have the seahawks had an amazing year and are in the playoffs, I also wragled an extra day off from work. I was totally blown away that my dad was able to get me ticketsas well as the good fortune of being able to attend. Now thanks to bank holidays I have a three day weekend. YAY....amazing how thinks work out.

The game should be fun went to one earlier this year and was not dissappointed. It was a terrible day typical for seattle, rainy and cold,`but we got lucky and our seats were undercover. May not have been the best view but we were dry. The only bad thing about the enitre day was that i got food poisoning from something i ate at the game. Oh well live and learn. Bottom line the game was fun.

Well enough about my little excusion...work sucks right now and i can honestly say i am thirilled for a little break....The 7-11 thing is becoming an overwhelming annoyance, hopefully that won't take to long to deal with. well i am bored with myself so anyway.......

Sef-destruction

Why do we do it.......Well I for one feel that I have no control over the events in my life. I almost feel like someone else is making all these decisions when In reality it is myself and I am the only one to blame..... I am not proud of who I am...when I look in the mirror I do not see someone i like. How do I go about changing this?????

I guess I have taken the first step in this mini crusade i have. I have contacted a licensed professional to help me deal with my mind that makes me go crazy. Hopefully they can help me understand why I think and do the things I do, because I don't get it. I have everything that is supposed to make people happy yet I am not. I have a wonderful boyfriend, family, home , and even a job i can tolerate going to daily. So what you may ask is the problem. I dont fucking know. If I did we wouldn't be having any of these issues. I am rambling and I am in a bad place.....
